Students with Drug, Alcohol or Theft Offenses

If you are a student or the parent of a student who is charged with any of these offenses, I can likely resolve these cases favorably and possibly erase the criminal record.

North Carolina Students Charged with Criminal Offenses

Many young people make choices that can have serious consequences. Consuming alcohol (especially behind the wheel), experimenting with illegal drugs and other reckless behavior — puts them at risk of physical harm, and subjects them to legal consequences as well.

At the DeCurtins Law Firm, I have represented many students over the years who have attended most high schools and colleges in our area.  I have had many past cases with students from UNCC and CPCC.  I understand that young people make mistakes, and that they are sometimes in the wrong place at the wrong time. My goal as a defense attorney is to help them learn from these mistakes while helping them minimize the consequences that could limit their futures.  You don't want a criminal record to follow you around your entire life, damage your reputation and cost you opportunities.

At my Charlotte, North Carolina, law firm, I represent people accused of many offenses, including:

  • Underage possession of alcohol/minor with alcohol
  • Drug possession and sales
  • Underage drunk driving - driving after consuming
  • Shoplifting - larceny and unlawful concealment

Underage Drunk Driving

Most adult drivers in North Carolina can be arrested for DWI if they are found to be driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher. However, for a driver under 21, any measurable blood alcohol concentration (BAC) can lead to a conviction for underage drunk driving.

Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) agents work hard to enforce North Carolina's laws about minors with alcohol, as well as, other laws that deal with the purchase, sale, consumption and possession of alcohol in the state.

Even an arresting officer's description of the smell of alcohol, slurred speech and other characteristics of intoxication can support a conviction. And, if convicted, it can mean the loss of your driver’s license.
